Navigating motherhood in Dubai: Finding your village of support, connection & compassion
You weren't meant to mother in isolation. Whether you've just landed in Dubai or you're a few babies in, a note on finding your people.

Becoming a mother is one of the most beautiful transitions in lifeâbut letâs be honest, it can also feel incredibly overwhelming, especially when youâre far from home or living in a busy, international city like Dubai. The saying âit takes a village to raise a childâ has never rung truer, and for many new mums here, finding that village is what turns a time of uncertainty into one of connection, confidence and joy.
As a certified IBCLC lactation consultant, antenatal/prenatal educator and baby massage teacher Iâve had the privilege of supporting countless mothers across Dubai and globallyâmany of whom were simply searching for support, friendship, and a listening ear.
In this blog, weâll explore some of the best support groups and communities for new and expecting mothers in Dubaiâfrom coffee mornings to playgroups, baby classes to online meetupsâso you can find the space that feels right for you.
Why community matters in motherhood
In my work supporting mothers through the early daysâwhether thatâs guiding a newborn feeding journey, troubleshooting sleep regressions, or preparing for weaningâwhat I hear most often is:
âI just want to talk to someone who gets it.â
Community can be a lifeline for new mums. According to the NCT (National Childbirth Trust, UK), building a network of parent friends is linked to lower rates of postnatal anxiety and depression, better infant bonding, and more confidence in parenting decisions (NCT, 2021).
When youâre surrounded by others who understand the sleepless nights, the endless nappies, and the emotional rollercoaster of new motherhood, you feel less aloneâand more empowered. It also means it doesn't matter if baby is unsettled or crying, because next coffee meet up, it'll most likely be someone else's baby who is crying!

There are lots of mum and baby groups in Dubai at different price points and areas of the city, the key is to find the right ones for you, and start to build your village and support network, however you want that to look.
How to choose the right support group for you
Every family is differentâso when youâre choosing a group or class, ask yourself:
- Do I feel emotionally safe and supported here?
- Does this group align with my parenting values (e.g. gentle parenting, breastfeeding, holistic health)?
- Am I able to ask questions, be honest, and receive (or give!) judgement-free advice?
- Does the facilitator or professional come with trusted experience and training?
At Lullabies, my approach is always rooted in gentle, respectful parenting, towards both your child and other parents. I have international experience across the UK, Saudi Arabia & Qatar, so I understand customs, traditions and (perhaps most importantly), health service and community support across the region. You werenât meant to mother in isolation, so if youâve just landed in Dubai, had a baby, or are navigating motherhood for the first (or third!) time, remember this: you are not alone. Finding your villageâwhether itâs at a baby massage class, a mumsâ coffee morning, or a gentle parenting circleâcan make all the difference to your confidence and well-being.
If youâre looking for a warm, expert-led community in Dubai, Iâd love to welcome you to one of my Lullabies sessions. From antenatal education to postnatal support, sleep coaching to weaningâweâre here for you, every step of the way.
