Whatever stage you're at, this is the one class to take.

The choking technique is different on a 4-month-old than on a 3-year-old. The dangers change as they get older. Most parents come at one of three stages.

Pregnancy

Before the baby comes.

You'd rather sit through it before the contractions than crash-Google it in the moment. Most antenatal parents come at 32–38 weeks.

Newborn → 1 yr

A new baby in the house.

Choking on milk, weird breathing, head bumps from the dog's tail. You want a calm playbook — and to know the difference between worrying and 999.

Toddler → 5 yrs

A toddler who has discovered grapes.

They're running, climbing, eating off the floor. The risks change — choking on whole foods, climbing falls, accidental ingestion — and so does the response.

What you'll walk out able to do.

Infant + child CPR

Compressions, breaths, pulse and breathing checks — on infant and child manikins until it feels automatic.

Choking — the real one

Back blows, chest thrusts, abdominal thrusts. Recognising real choking vs gagging. Different on a 4-month-old.

Burns, head bumps, seizures

Cool, cover, call. Febrile convulsions vs the one that needs an ambulance. The head injury red flags every parent should know.

999 in Dubai — what to say

What to do for the first 90 seconds before the ambulance arrives. Even if you're alone with a baby on the kitchen floor.

Three hours, start to finish.

01

Before anything else

DRSABC in a Dubai context. When (and how) to call 999 / 998. What to do for the first 90 seconds — even alone.

02

Choking — infant and child

Recognising real choking vs gagging. Back blows and chest thrusts on an infant manikin. Abdominal thrusts on a child manikin. When choking turns into needing CPR.

03

CPR — infant and child

Compressions and breaths on infant and child manikins. Pulse, breathing and response checks. AED basics — I bring a training AED.

04

Bumps, burns, bleeds & poisons

Head injury red flags. Burns: cool, cover, call. Major and minor bleeds. Accidental ingestion — who to call.

Four things I won't budge on.

Hands-on, not a slide deck

Most of the three hours is hands-on practice on the floor. You'll do real compressions on a real infant trainer.

Taught by someone who has done it

I'm a registered NICU nurse with 20+ years on the ward. I've done CPR on babies in real emergencies. I teach it the way I learned it — calm, repetitive, drill until automatic.

EFR-aligned, evidence-led

Aligned with Emergency First Response curriculum. I cite the data when something is contested — bystander CPR, head injury red flags, choking thresholds.

Nannies welcome — same rate

Many employers cover it as professional development. Nannies are very welcome and pay exactly the same rate.

Three weeks later, the grape happened.

The first aid awareness class that my nanny and I took with Lisa was incredibly helpful. It served both as a great refresher on first aid across all ages and as a real confidence booster as I begin the journey of starting solids as a first-time mom. All of our questions were answered thoroughly, and at no point did anything feel rushed. Bonus points to the venue for providing a well-equipped play area and a nanny to help keep the little ones happily occupied throughout the session. Would definitely recommend.

Lisa visited us as home for the first aid and solid starts training session. The session was provided for three of us - Lisa ensured all of us understood each section fully and provided clear, detailed guidance. This session provided us with a lot of reassurance, useful tips for life in Dubai with a baby and fundamental first aid skills (for babies, children and adults!). Thank you, Lisa!!

An excellent and very helpful course for first aid and safe weaning. Both my nanny and I found this course very informative. It also boosted my confidence in the weaning phase with my child. very knowledgeable facilitators. Highly reccomend.

The honest answers.

Don't see your question? WhatsApp Lisa — usually answered within a few hours.

Is this a formal qualification?

It's a paediatric first aid awareness workshop — EFR-aligned and recognised by most Dubai nurseries and schools. It isn't the formal EFR/EFAW accredited workplace qualification.

Can I bring my baby?

Yes — just let Lisa know in advance so she can check nanny support is available to help with your little one during the class.

Can we book the whole class privately?

Yes — minimum eight attendees. Ideal for a group of friends, a corporate gift, or a building/compound. WhatsApp me for a quote.

What about my nanny? Should they come?

Absolutely — and they're often the most important person in the room. Nannies pay the same rate, and many employers cover it as professional development.

Refunds and rescheduling?

Plans change. Message Lisa as early as you can and, where there's space, you can transfer to another date or pass your seat to a friend. Full cancellation and refund terms are on our Terms page.

Is there a virtual option?

Yes — there's an Essential Infant & Child CPR + First Aid course delivered via Zoom (around AED 150). It's the theory without the manikin work — useful as a refresher or for relatives outside Dubai. The in-person workshop is the hands-on practice.

The class you'll never regret taking.

Three hours on a Saturday. A certificate by Monday. The flowcharts on the fridge by Tuesday. Worth doing before you need it.
