“I really thought we were a lost cause.”

You have decided, or you are close to deciding. Maybe you are going back to work. Maybe you would like to be pregnant again. Maybe you are simply done — touched out, awake at two in the morning again, and quietly furious that this is still only your job.
So you look it up, one-handed, with a toddler attached. One site says don't offer, don't refuse. Another says go away for a weekend. A comment underneath says you will damage the bond if you are the one to end it.
What none of them gives you is an order to do things in. What to change first. What to actually say when your two-year-old pulls at your top in the supermarket. What your own body is going to do as your supply comes down. Or how to tell a bad week from a sign to stop and wait.
So you carry on, and feel bad about carrying on. That is the part this guide is for.

I'm Lisa Adair. I'm an IBCLC — an internationally board certified lactation consultant — a registered NICU nurse of more than twenty years, and a paediatric sleep consultant. I live and work in Dubai.
I wrote this because weaning is the part of the feeding journey nobody prepares you for. There is a great deal of help getting breastfeeding started and almost none for ending it, and what there is tends to be either wait until they self-wean or go away for a weekend.
Most of the mothers I see for this arrived in this city without a mother, a sister or a neighbour to ask. So this is the whole of what I would tell you across several sessions, written down — what is happening in your body, what is happening in theirs, and exactly what to do and say.
“I really thought we were a lost cause… In a matter of days, our toddler was fully weaned from breastfeeding, sleeping in his own bed and above all sleeping through the night. Lisa basically held my hand through every step.”
“I consulted Lisa to help wean our toddler off breast milk through a gentle and gradual approach. She took her time to understand our toddler's habits and our parenting style, and prepared a plan we were happy with.”
“She helped us through the transition of weaning, which I was a bit nervous about, and she made the whole process feel so much more calm and manageable.”

12 gentle, responsive ways to start weaning from the breast. The techniques I actually use with families — nursing manners, timed reduction, substitution, delay, night weaning. Free to read on the site, and free to keep as a PDF.
The twelve tell you what you can try. They can't tell you which two to pick for your child, what to do when the first week goes badly, or what your body will be doing while it does. That is what the full guide is for.
It arrives straight away. After that I’ll email you occasionally, and you can unsubscribe in one tap. I don’t share your address with anyone. Or read all of them on the site, no email needed.
The guide is the method. A visit is the method plus someone who can see your child, hear the week you have actually had, and change the plan on Tuesday when it isn't working.
A single in-home visit is AED 725. If you have read the guide first you will get more out of it — you arrive with the questions rather than the background.
See what a single visit covers →Part one asks you to write down one sentence about why. You will want it at three in the morning in week two.
AED 199, one payment, yours for good.
